Our soy wax is 100% natural and renewable material that’s grown and produced by American farmers. Though paraffin wax is more commonly used to make candles (largely because it is cheaper), soy wax burns much cleaner therefore making it a much more environmentally friendly and sustainable option.
The advantages of soy wax don’t stop with the environment. Soy wax also burns slower than paraffin wax, meaning you’ll get a candle that lasts longer. Soy is also an excellent carrier of fragrance, without requiring chemical amplifiers to enhance the scent throw and ensuring a well-balanced, true-to-scent candle.
We use both essential and fragrance oils in our candles.
Essential oils are all natural, extracted directly from plants, flowers and fruits etc. While we love these natural oils, depending on the oil used they may or may not put off much scent when used in a candle. After much testing, we feel that these following essential oils work well in our candles without compromising quality or scent: Lavender, Eucalyptus, Sandalwood, Lemongrass, Pine, Ylang Ylang, and Orange.
Fragrance oil is manmade. This does not mean it is bad or unsafe. Many natural ingredients can be harmful, and many synthetic ingredients have a long and proven record of being perfectly safe. Many of the fragrance oils we use actually do contain essential oils as well!
At Sun Theory we use the ECO wick series in all of our candles. The ECO wick is constructed from natural flat cotton threads interwoven with paper threads. The consistent flame and slight curl of ECO wicks work well with natural waxes and ensures an even burn. ECO wicks are lead and zinc free.
If you ever have any questions about any of the ingredients used in our candles please don't hesitate to reach out. We are about full transparency at Sun Theory.
